I scrapped the mechanical steering and pick up a hydraulic steering kit. I found the BayStar kit for just over $500 with shipping New! that is the cheapest I found by a long shot.

8) It sure makes routing the control cables easier.

Oh yes it does! And much neater look to it too. No big cable loop, no feedback, effortless steering. Lots of pluses and no negatives. I found the best deal at PBSboatstore.com. At least I think that is the website. They have great pricing! Check them out.

Thanks I will be sure to get in touch with you. I haven't touched my build in a while but I plan to get back at it.

I posted two new pictures in the gallery. I wanted to show you guys the layout of the console. I still haven't figured out how to post those pictures here in the forum. Could someone please post those pics here? Much appreciated!

I don't think there's any way you could go wrong with this decision. I LOVE MINE!!! Though I don't think it cost so much when I did it a few years ago  Its so much nicer than the cable system. The "no feedback" is super great.

Keep in mind for the future: Only use the teleflex power steering fluid. I found that other alternatives leaked past my seals. Once the leaking started, it wouldn't stop. I replaced all the seals on the hydraulic assembly and put the right fluid back in...works like a charm and an easy repair too.

Thank you! I can't wait until the poling platform is on! She is most certainly going to be a one-off head turner!
