I don’t feel too bad about this. Sanded the whole boat from the seam taping and only have a few spots to address before putting to cloth on. What a freakin itchy mess to sand though. That powder gets between your fingers and is just brutal. Shooting for this weekend to cloth. When I do anymore sanding, I will certainly put on my tyvec suit. Tomorrow I will address the touch up spots.

Seams touched up, everything sanded and hull wiped down with acetone. Going to try and lay cloth tomorrow..

Be careful with the acetone. I have been told lots of it is reclaimed and will have contaminants in it. If from a glass supplier I would think it is good but would worry if from a big box store. A hot water scrub should do the job and be less risk.

I don't get it, but the pictures could be misleading : it looks like the biax tape is sanded out on the edges, which is where you would need it most ?

I agree. It looks like it needs another layer of tape to cover the edge.
Also agree with fuzz. I remember reading on here about acetone being problematic in some cases.

Yes you are correct. I had to sand out the tape on the edges to fill some holes. I plan on laying on new tape there and then laying the cloth over it. I should be able to do that in the same session though since it is small sections of tape. It won’t take as long to place.

Be sure to you sand the edges round enough because biax doesn't like sharp edges. If you can fill holes with putty just before laying your tape you'll ensure a perfect bonding.

I hit it with a sanding block to control the sanding and rounded the edges. I’ve got one bubble I can not get to lay down. There are three layers of tape there and next will be cloth. I’m thinking about sanding out the bubble and just filling that spot with epoxy.

I’m not sure why that long seam is so white. There is no air and the glass is laying flat. Maybe it’s just the glass underneath it.

The seams are done, the hull is sanded, the entire thing has been washed with soap and water. I will wash again and make sure there are not any rough spots then the cloth lay begins.

A question- it looks like the plywood only has epoxy on where the tape is, and the rest is unsealed. I would think that washing with soap and water would get the plywood wet, which would interfere with laying the glass. You aren't going to glass over wet plywood, are you? Sorry if I'm missing something.
