I have been looking at designes for quite some time now. My main concerns are build time. How much time will buying a complete kit save? I am most interested in a ob 17, 19 or panga 20. The OB boats state around 200 hours of construction time when the panga is more like a 100 hours. Are the OBs that much more difficult or just more time. Will the precut kits cut the time in half or just some. I also like the ob boats. I live in North Texas I would mostly fish for catfish and bass.
I would like to occasionaly fish on the Texas Coast.
thanks

build time od, panga
I am finishing up a Panga, the biggest mistake I made is not buying a precut kit. Cutting it out takes less time than transferring the dimensions. I would guess transferring patterns and cutting takes 30-40 hours. There is ample opportunity to make an error. There is no way you're going to build one of these in 100 hours. I would say 400-500 is more like it.
Panga 20
The time required to build is a function of experience. I can build any boat that we list in less time than the average labor we mention.
Note that the estimated time is to complete is for a bare hull ready to paint, ready to rig.
It does not include any accessories like installing tanks, rigging the engine, installing electricity etc. It's for the hull only.
