Xf-20 Livewell water pickup

Post by Aripeka Angler »

I need help as to the best location for my live well water pickup. Live well will be located where the center seat would be located if my boat had one. Thanks, Richard.

Richard you'll need to have it where it will always be under water even when you are on plane. This leaves you two options one a seacock through the hull in the last 3' of the hull, or through the transom below the waterline with another type of shutoff valve. Do not use plastic pipe for these connections in case they should crack they will flood your bilge.

Hope this helps.

Ok..... I am kind of wondering if I should cut a rectangular hole in the bottom and build a small pickup vault like my hewes boat has so I wont have a bronze scupper hanging down to get torn off by rocks? Gobs of big rocks in my back yard. How do I know if this would affect handling? Richard

Put it through the transom then that's what I think I am going to do.

I first thought about the transom set up but is the pickup fitting going to be too big to allow for a reliable pickup with a 3 inch draft? Richard

Would be good if the designer(s) weighed in on this. Richard.
