I need some opinions. I'm pondering making the stern rounded, much like a true tugboat. This is o.k. if I do the topsides panel in 1/4" plywood. The run aft will be pretty flat as shown in the profile view/ with a nice bit of transom clearance. Ignore the bow - I wasn't working on that end this evening.
This is a "pretty appearance" thing and may not appeal to all.
The version I'm playing with right now also has a bit of tumblehome aft.
What do prospective builders think about this stern shape?

Evan,
The images look terrific! You titled this tread rounded stern option. Are you planning on more that one stern design?
I'm following this design closely. With the cost of fuel this boat would be a great economical means to get on the water. Plus, who hasn't dreamed of being a tugboat pilot when they were a kid.
Keep up the great design work and keep the images and info coming!

No, it won't be an option between 2 hull shapes! 2 different deckhouses I can manage, but 2 hulls is 2 different boats and a lot more work.
So the choice is either the rounded stern or a conventional transom. Both would have the outboard motor in a well forward of the transom and hidden away from sight.
[EDIT] I hadn't seen Devlin's Godzilla before or if I had, I had forgotten about it. Pretty similar stern, but very flat panels in the bow that will tend to pound more.
In the construction he uses 2 layers of 1/4" for the transom and 1/2" for the rest of the sides. In our construction method it will be 1/4" with glass inside and out for the topsides and 3/8" on the bottom panels.
