Which primer, high build or finishing should be used? Do I need to use both?

Mike the S3 primer is the primer of choice even for the Sterling paints. It does an excellent job. See Shines build of FS12.

we have used the System Three primer with Sterling topcoat, no problems.

The sterling primers are very nice also, but a little more work and more money.

Thanks for such a good detailed, pictured explanation. It is just part of what makes this site so good; very clear, and makes the "black art" of roll and tip less intimidating to the inexperienced.

Appreciates your efforts Dougster

Joel

Which S-3 primer for the Sterling??

2 Part epoxy or
Epoxy Yacht Primer -This says water reducable and Mark Billingsley with Sterling told me no water based primers.

Both are shown in the store.

I have used the S3 high build epoxy yacht primer and the Sterling highbuild epoxy primer with Sterling topcoat. We stock both :)

I would not use the older WR primer (white).
