Hello All,
How are you doing?
I have a question for Boat Builder Central, are you planning to release a SB18 Epoxy + Fiberglass kit, like, for instance, the AD14?
Thank you,
The best Regards,
Marcelo.
SB18 - Epoxy + Fiberglass Kit
If you want, we can calculate it.
The price will be the same than the total calculated from the BOM at BoatBuilderCentral.com.
We do not always show the epoxy-fiberglass kit because most builders prefer to buy the supplies in two or three orders. This allows you to spread the expense over time.

Hello John,
Thank you for your answer.
I am just brain storming here, please do not get me wrong, even because I do not know the other aspects involved in this process, like financial, delivery, etc, maybe it is a bad idea, but, maybe, you can create a kind of: Half Kit, it helps people spreading the costs, storaging the material, etc.
All the best.
Marcelo.

The kit price with shipping is about the same than the materials purchased separately. Since we ship in relatively small boxes, there is no difference in shipping cost.
I can suggest a starter kit. It is the same for many boats: enough resin and fiberglass tape to put the hull together on the jig. In almost every case, we use biaxial tape 12 oz. in 6" wide.
A good starter kit for a boat that size will be:
- 6 gallons epoxy resin
- 3 rolls of biaxial tape 12 oz. 6" wide
- 5lbs wood flour.
Enter that at http://boatbuildercentral.com/
Enter your address and you will see a price with shipping before you check out.
Don't be afraid to click on order, it does not become a real order until you go to the payment page.

Marcelo is Robert,
What Jacques is James is saying is exactly what we did. Not only to defer cost but it also allowed us to try the Marinepoxy brand epoxy without buying 12 gallons and then wishing we had used some other brand (we love the epoxy by the way). We are using a medium hardener and are having good luck and pot life is acceptable. Our shop is air conditioned by the way so you may want to use a slow hardener in your case during the summer months if your shop is hot at all. You can also buy you epoxy with different hardeners as the weather changes this way and you can even mix the different hardeners to customize pot life. Another note on the glass cloth if you order over 10 yards in the single yard section (say you need 35 yards) it will automatically give the 10 yard discounted price.
Keep on building
Your fellow SB18 builder,
Greg (Greg in English)

Hey, you give away our discount trick.sngatlanta wrote:Another note on the glass cloth if you order over 10 yards in the single yard section (say you need 35 yards) it will automatically give the 10 yard discounted price.
It is correct, the web site gives the discount once you get above 10 yards.

Hello Jacques and Greg (both in English), hahahahaha,
I am planning to buy the list of materials mentioned by Jacques, probably next week.
I just finished the long panels and this weekend I hope to build the strongback and start put those pieces together and see the first shape of the boat.
Greg you need back to your boat man.
Al the best for both of you.
