Hi I´m going to build the cat12., my first ever project. I´ve asked a few questions on the forums and had prompt answers VERY helpful.<BR>Anyway I thought I´d let you all know (probably done before) that I´ve used the plans 12:1 and £5 worth of plywood to make a model. I´ve made mistakes which will save me time and money and I have agood idea of what she´ll look like.... a beuatiful little dingy. So if your starting out like me make a model first.

Kevin,<BR><BR>Your advice to build a model is sound. I´ve built models of all three of my boats built from plans from bateau.com. I use okoume aircraft ply and spruce salvaged from aircraft builder´s scrap and 2-ounce cloth. The models are finished with spar varnish, sit in wooden cradles, and serve as candy dishes when Hanna Marie´s friends come over. People have offered up to US$100 for the Caravelle model. Not for sale.

Yeah, this brings up another perspective...<BR><BR> <IMG SRC="images/forum/icons/icon_cool.gif"> Ima ashame to say I bought the plans tp a Flat Skiff more then two years ago, and nevergot the time to start it, since I can only do-it at mothers garage. (I live in a 7th floor).<BR><BR>Well, if I continue postponing (meanwhile made a PhD and started new Eng Degree) I Guess I will have to satisfy myself doing small scale versions. <IMG SRC="images/forum/icons/icon27.gif"> <BR><BR>But that brings up a thought <IMG SRC="images/forum/icons/icon21.gif"> <BR><BR>How about making available "study plans" for Sail boats to make a model? I mean... I wont get time to build a Caravell or other before 10 or 15 years from now... (only some small stuff, with some luck),<BR><BR>Well, would´nt pay the work for Bateau...
