Nice work Frazoo. Those are top notch filets I'm totally a dark beer drinker......Therefore I have none in the fridge
Nice work. Are you going to put a small clamping board on the transom? Just a thought.

Now that there is a good looking beer! Looks cold too..., .
I thought there was something else I was forgetting to do with the transom, thanks for the reminder. Yeah, it definately needs a clamping board. I thought about it about a week ago. thanks for keeping me straight.

Re: frazoo's Honker "14"
I've just been informed that my squirled away $3k for an FS17 motor is now going to fund a Maymester in China for my youngest daughter.
I've got this really nice Mercury 3.3 hanging in my garage.I'm thinkin that maybe I need to build what I've got a motor for.
Have any of these boats been finished? The hull looks a lot like my Force 5 sailboat.I'm thinking that a light build and a little tweaking could make this thing plane with 4hp or so.Maybe I'm asking too much.I always do.

Re: frazoo's Honker "14"
Paul I'm pretty sure that this boat has a fairly significant rocker on the bottom, so it may not be the best planing boat (Alot of hull slap), but I've been wrong before Have you thought about the SC16?I'm thinking that a light build and a little tweaking could make this thing plane with 4hp or so
Lookin' good frazoo, keep it up,

Re: frazoo's Honker "14"
Will is right, significant rocker in this hull as designed. JM could tell you if it could be modified, but I imagine he would prefer chosing something designed for what you are talking about. SC 16, as Will mentioned might be closest thing, and you can see several already built, but don't know if the 3.3 hp will do what you need.

Re: frazoo's Honker "14"
Frames cut out to final shapes. You can see the camber now, I like it. I had thought to leave the cockpit open to frame A (closest to bow), but after seeing the camber I am decking it back to Frame B. That still leaves me with over 92" ov cockpit length and 27-1/2" wide. The width works out so it is perfect to brace the outsides of your feet at the chine against the sides and stand comfortable with very good balance.
Will install frames, cut and mount a clamping board next. Thinking about either clear yellow pine for clamping board ro white oak. Or would plywood be just as good?

Re: frazoo's Honker "14"
. sanded on a canoe, bought a used boat, stayed at a holiday inn last night
Re: frazoo's Honker "14"
You could use plywood or SYP. Try to get a piece that's not full of knots.

Boy,the study plan is deceptive. The Honker is much deeper than I imagined and it would be foolish to try to turn it into something it isn't.The good part is I could run my little 3.3 at half throttle.
