Cleaning Sterling from brush
Cleaning Sterling from brush
The Sterling application guide says to use STERLING C-8761 Brush Cleaner. It goes on to say that the Brushing Reducer will not work. Am I going put things on hold while I order this?

MEK will clean the brush, it's about the only thing that will.

Re: Cleaning Sterling from brush
From Mark Billingsly (sterling rep-very helpful during my paint issues)...
I asked the same and he suggested I take an empty 1/2 gallon can of MEK/acetone or a big metal coffee can (deep enough for the bristles of the brush to be suspended off the bottom and enough to cover the brushes with liquid). Cut the top off and poke/cut a hole in large enough for the handle of the brush to come through. drill a hole in the handle and run a coat hanger wire to suspend the brush from the top of the can.
fill about 1/2 full with MEK to cover the base of the brush and suspend the brush with the tips off the bottom. This will allow dissolved solids in the paint to fall to the bottom of the can and keep the brush bristles soaked in MEK. After application, suspend brush and walk away.
When you go to the next application shake out as much as you can when you start inducing the paint. BEWARE, any MEK left in the brush might alter darker colors early in the application so plan accordingly to start in a concealed area (transom) if possible.
Worked for me.

Excellent! I was just about to ask for details on cleaning with MEK.
