Fiberglass rack

Post by doug42190 »

Does anyone have a good set of plans for building a wooden rack to store and dispense fiberglass? I use full rolls -- about 170-200 pounds each. I would like to find a rack that I could roll around that would hold 2 rolls at a time. The other question is getting the fiberglass off the rolls without distorting the weave (biax) from pulling on it. Image
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Check out pics of upholstery roller racks. I've seen some heavy duty racks for people making boat cushions and bench seat covers for busses.

I made a rolling cut table out of a full sheet of plywood. Two shelves below the cutting level. I have room for three rolls on one end and two on the other. I made cuts in the table every one foot so I could make straight cuts. Make sure to use big/good casters. It has served me well for over 20 years so it was worth spending a little extra on it.
I am at work now or I would post a picture. If you have questions let me know.
