70 coats of varnish!

Post by Cracker Larry »

Check this out. I'm not sure which would be better, to have the talent to build boats like this, or to have the money to hire the talent. After seeing the boat house, I think the latter 8)

I saw that video a few weeks ago. All I have to say is that boat makes me feel funny! :D

I'd be tempted to put the whole nine yards behind glass with an armed guard, but the builder made it to be used. Amazing.

Beautiful boat. 8) If they really brushed on 70 coats of varnish instead of spraying, they did some serious sanding to get it smooth.

I wonder how that guy would feel if I dropped a cast net on the floor, after hauling it in with a load full of nasty baitfish
Do you think he'd be a bit uneasy about a couple of empty beer cans flopping around in the back?
I'm too redneck to have a boat like that (or to be around anyone that does)

The one thing I noticed was when brushing on the varnish was how thick he was putting it on.Kind of like laying a heavy coat of epoxy and letting it seek its own level. I usually attend the antique boat show every year in Mt. dora. I have not seen anything that compares to this. :D :D

It wouldn't do for me to have a boat like that either, I treat a boat rough, but I do like the boat house 8)
Got to admire the talent and time, even if there is no practical reason for it

Edit: I just bought a Powerball ticket, so if I win I'll build Joel and I both a boathouse :!:
