Tip for addiction spending

Post by JimW »

I have a credit card that pays me reward points for purchases. Being a smart spender I always pay off the balance. But these rewards points are redeemable for Cabelas gift certificates! So far I've bought two offshore (50#) penn rigs, and a minnkota riptide saltwater trolling motor. I have completely changed my spending habit and put evrything on the card. I always pay for the group and take cash back from friends for their share. I spend no more money, but my monthly balance is double and I get free Cabelas stuff twice a year! First USA is the card I have, but investigate, this may available through more than one card company. I know Cabelas has a card that you can do that with. I even charged my Yamaha motor on the card to jack up the points. Hope this helps someone get some free toys. I love the look on my wife's face when I tell her it didn't cost a cent!

I do the same thing with American Express for airline miles. Buy computers for people, airline tickets for others and get the cash or check.

Then my wife and I take off for weekends out of the snow.

I do the same with the air miles but you have to realize that you pay for it. Banks and processors charge heavy fees to the vendor and that means that we include that in the price of our products.
I am seriously thinking of a separate web site with lower prices for those who pay by check and money order.
Our average cost is 4.6%. Don't email to say that you know processors who charge only 2.3% because that is what we use. They have all kind of ancilliary charges that bring the cost close to 5%.

Yep, I know I pay for it but no one gives a discount for cash so if I'm paying the same price for something I might as well get air miles in exchange.

By the way, I pay 2.7% and $5 per month, no other charges.

Jacques,
I've got the GV17 on my radar. Purchase to include the plans, the "Epoxy-Fiberglass kit", the "Pre-cut plywood kit" and anything else that you sell for this boat. I do not use credit cards and I (for one) would greatly appreciate a site that discounts for us who pay by check and money orders.

I agree. If it means I save a few bucks just to mail you a check instead of using a credit card, I'll do it, too.

If we make a mail-in order, and call ahead, could we work out a discount that way, Jacques?

Yers but for big orders only. We already gave discounts of 2% to several builders who paid by money order. I can go as high as 3% for orders a above $ 1,000.00

Cool...

I'll definitely call ahead before ordering my epoxy/fiberglass kit & my plywood

Thanks, Jacques!
