FS18 Soft EZ Fillet

Post by vgant »

Sunday afternoon, I set the knees and "tacked" the stringers on my FS 18 with EZ fillet. The EZ fillet is still somewhat soft and just a little tacky on the boat and in the mixing container after 54 hours. It is possible I messed up the mix but I thought it was good and the mixed color seemed to be as I remembered from previous use. Temperature mid 70's and dry.

Questions: (1) will the EZ fillet eventually fully harden and if so will it have requisite strength?
or
(2) should I just pull the knees and stringers out, clean them and do it again?
(3) Any possible cause other than bad mix ratio?

As always thank you guys.

its either the wrong ratio or not mixed completely. If its ratio problem, then the putty will be uniformly uncured, in other words it will all be the same, no cured parts with some tacky parts. If its not mixed enough, then you can have some parts cured, with other parts tacky

maybe. Sorry that the best I can do. It is very possible the putty will continue to harden and it will be OK. A little heat will help the chemistry along
