GF18 foam ?

How important is it for the foam floatation to reach the underside of the sole?

I bought 3 A/B kits to fill the spaces under the sole. The sections closer to the to the bow aft of the frame are the largest and I want foam in theses spaces mainly for sound deadening. I have used 2 kits so far and have filled most of the spaces 90-95% of the way and was planning to use the 3rd kit in the larger section closer to the bow.

If I should be filling all the way to the sole I will run short.

What do ya think

It is not necessary to fill all the way to the top but you are correct that a completely filled compartment for sound insulation.

There was some discussion on here a while back about how in small boats (canoe and kayak) that the space needed to be full or there needed to be vent holes, but that in larger boats that was unnecessary.

Correct but that is a different point.
If there is air, there can be condensation to drain.
However, many PH16 and PH18 were built with enclosed compartments and add no condensation problems.
