Folding Skoota 28

Post by Gringo »

In the Multi Hull Designs it has a listing of the CAT22 and 3 or 4 Of the Woods Cats. This is what it says about the Skoota 28
"28' power catamaran with cabin, folds for towing" So, how did you fold that thing up Richard?

Sorry, we missed that when proof reading (there are a few other errors to correct next week). It should have said "demounts for towing"

We had our own Skoota 28 built in a shed 40 miles from the sea. We took it to the water in two stages, no escort or wide load permits, behind an old Chevy pickup. It didn't take long to assemble the main parts, far longer to reinstall the engines/steering etc.

We are planning on towing ours from Port Townsend, Wa to Texas later this year. It is feasible to do it as one load 40ft x 10ft x 8ft. Or 40ft x 6ft x 12ft depending which way the cabin goes on the trailer. And with an all up weight of 5000lbs most midsize pickups can tow it.

The folding boats are the Skoota 20 and Skoota 24 (which will be on the site next week)

You can see lots of videos on my Woods Designs youtube channel

I hope that helps explain it.
