PH18 foam core....
So, I saw that many epoxy the base of their bilge pump right to the bottom (the pump itself is removable for maintenance)
So, I mixed up some structural epoxy, laid down a glob and put the pump in place. Checked it tonight and the bottom of the pump stuck, but hardly. With a little pressure from the side it released, just like if it was a mold surface. Must be the type of plastic that was used?
It us a Rule 2000 GPH.
I hate the idea of using screws, any ideas? 5200 ?

5200 will hold it. I usually glue in a plywood pad and screw to it, but 5200 will work if you don't want screws.

I used 4000UV because thats what I had on hand. Its easier to get off than 5200/4200 and it doesn't turn yellow when exposed to UV.
A 3m rep recommended it to me. I had never heard of it.

The 4000 is more of a sealant than an adhesive. It might work for a while though. 5200 can glue grease to ice cubes

When the sun expands in the far future, and rips the earth apart, there will still be orbitting the bloated red-giant sun, blobs of 5200, and the Brooklyn Bridge. Learned astro-archeologists will recognize both immediately.

Re: Adhering bilge pump base
I glued 2 of the same pumps in with thickened epoxy. I first ruffed up the base with 60 grit. I seams stuck good. Time will tell
Re: Adhering bilge pump base
Thanks, I am going to try that first so as to avoid screws if possible. If it will not stand a good yank or two I'll have to drill and seal with some short screws...

Re: Adhering bilge pump base
I think if you rough it up good then flash it gentle with a propane torch it will bond with epoxy. That's what I do with pvc and it holds pretty dang good. Let some of the thickened epoxy ooze up through the screw holes in the base and get inside a little, it won't come off.
Seems simpler to use a squirt of 5200 though.

CL, great idea. I had not of heating it up. And yes it should hold real well with little grabbers coming up through the holes. Thanks!
