Where? Someplace where outsiders (+ potential builders) can meet and have a look at our boats.
Homosassa is a very nice place but we kept missing each other and some who came to see the boats never found the dock where we had the boats tied up.
Crystal River, the Keys, Sebastian and Boca Grande were fine from that point of view.
Boca Grande was the best with all the boats under our windows but how about the Florida panhandle? More driving for me but easy for our builders from GA, AL etc.

Fly in here, If you miss each other here there could be 4 reasons
1 you deliberately don't want to been seen
2 You are really stupid to get lost on a small island like this
3 You are too drunk drinking to much rum coke's or pure pirates rum, arch arch arch!
4 all of the above or combinations of it, but 3 is most likely here
Well at least you guys are gonna see 1 boat and maybe one in the pipeline

Peter, someday Sandi and I are going to visit your island

I watched your 60 Minutes baseball video a couple of times. Looks like an awesome place to hang out for a couple of weeks. BTW, it's impressive the way you guys crank out great baseball players

I liked Homosassa better than any place where we have had a meet so far. The restaurant at the home base hotel was a little sketchy but the room we had was 10 times better than the ones we stayed at in Boca Grande. The river was great and the fishing was good

It was a laid back place, I thought it was perfect...
I like the Panhandle or Fort Myers or Jacksonville. I just don't know any places at any of those locations that would be ideal for a meet

I'm really sorry we couldn't make it to Homasassa. Sounds fine to me. Hope I can make it this year. I know nothing about facilities or much else in the panhandle or upper gulf.

Larry the place we stayed with the water view rooms, I thought was nice, you know the one with the claw machine for crab and the very nice beach bar, the place Joel and his lovely wife and kids visited also that same time.

I once visited Pensecola Beach a very nice place for a meet in the upper golf I think

Jimmy Buffet also has a hotel/casino there, but you have to watch out it's also home of the Blue angels if I understood correctly, don't go there if they are having a flying show, a couple hotel nights at that moment will buy you a small house

well sort of

St. George Island is an awesome place. There are backwater areas for the smaller boats and not too far from some offshore fishing.

About Homosassa, it is true that the hotel looked good, If we go back there, I will not take my camper but get a room instead.
Now that we know the place, we can decide about meeting on the docks.
Fishing was probably good and that restaurant along the water, the no frills one one 1 mile away, was worth the trip.
I like the panhandle too but for St Georges island, is that not an island to reach by ferry?

There is a bridge to St. George, but they don't have any facilities big enough for a group that have docks on site. St. George is awesome, but mostly houses, now they do have some monster houses that will sleep a dozen or more with docks and bay access...

how about the Water Street Hotel in Apalachicola
they have 28 rooms as of now they have 11 slips available and a marina next door for overflow.
STAY AWAY FROM NOV 1st ...... that is the seafood festival and rooms are 400. night
other than that she said that she would give a group block rate, because as they fill up so does the price..

EDIT......
I have NOT stayed there just did a little google search because I love the panhandle and there has not been a meet there
yet..............

I checked out the Water Street Hotel.
The hotel and area both look like great places for a meet...
I would give a vote of yes if y'all want to have a meet there
Edit...I have been to Apalachicola a couple of times. They cook up some great seafood there

Apalachicola is great for food. On that same Waters Street, there is Oyster Town where we stop each time we drive through.

Joe,
I'm open for pretty much anytime as long as it's not May 20th-June 3rd. We will be out of the country between those dates.
2015 was a challenging year for our family. I'm looking forward to this meet and other events as well as a quiet 2016...

I hope all is well now, I picked up on some of it, I hope Sandy's doing good, you too, we had a tough year too but also looking forward to a peaceful 2016.
Jan and I are going to try and make it down this year just not sure when.

Good to hear from you Joe
Sandi is doing great now.
Lost my brother a week ago and brother in law 2 months ago, it's been rough.
On a lighter note----When you come down to visit, I promise I'll make time to fish with you.

Ever consider Amelia Island, just above Jacksonville? Inshore fishing within 5 minutes of the docks, deep water fishing (60' depth) 5 minutes of the dock, two big State Park fishing piers on either end of the island (camp grounds, riding stables, even a civil war era brick fort). Oldest continuously operating saloon in the State of Florida; oldest hotel too. Boat out to see the wild horses on Cumberland Island, and perhaps a nuke sub coming in or out of Kings Bay. Lots of drive on the beach opportunities. Plenty of hotels and restaurants at all price ranges. Speaking of the boat ramps: north end has a four lane concrete ramp with jettys on both sides; downtown has two ramps at the end of the main street into the town marina; and just over the south end of the island is a two lane ramp at Big Talbot State Park. Plenty of trailer parking space at all ramps.
I tried Sebastian Inlet in 2014 (the meetup that didn't) and found water too shallow for a daggerboard boat and the water was full of Manatee poop; waters further up are clean and less populated...except for speckled sea trout, reds, and flounder.

In case it was missed the first time, if I may I like to bring in Pensacola Beach as another option , cool place imo

Peter, I agree Pensacola is a nice town. I have worked out there several times. We were working in Pensacola this past September when they were having a big seafood festival. I was thinking at the time "it's too bad I got to be working"
As a bonus, we might also get some of the Texas guys or northern gulf boat builders to attend if we did a meet in the panhandle?
As for Amelia Island, I've heard it's a real pretty area. I have never been there that I can remember. I open for about anything.
As for a date for the meet, I suppose it would make sense to do it over the summer when the youngsters are out of school.
How does the middle to end of July sound?

I would prefer Amelia Island over Pensacola. Pensacola is a nice place, but a long drive for most of us (probably closer to Texas!), and kind of getting too big. My wife did a project at the museum in Amelia Island, and both times I went up there I was really sad we didn't bring the boat. Not a tiny town, but has a very nice "small town" flavor, and good food and lodging. If you all want I can see if she will reach out to her contacts there to see about deals for a group like ours. The museum is small but the folks running it are all local volunteers that include some "shakers and movers" in that community. Middle or end of July works for me.

I like Amelia island.
About 10 years ago, we had a nice meeting close to Jacksonville, on the beach, in a State park.
I don't know if we can find a waterfront place with docks etc.
The nice part of some of those meetings was to have our rooms right next to the dock like in Boca Grande or Homosassa.
BTW, if we go back to Homosassa, I"ll stay at that motel, no camping.

It may the cold? Nobody is working on his boat when the epoxy doesn't cure.
We see it with our orders: when the temperature goes up, people order epoxy, when it goes down, they order plans to dream about the next boat

It's all good Ken, I get that way when I don't get to go fishing for a couple of months.
SO, do we need to reconsider this Amelia Island thing? All I'm hearing is crickets...

I really doubt Amelia will have the type of facility we need for a meet. I've looked at all the lodging there and nobody even lists having a dock.
I've done a good bit of work down there and it's a very upscale sort of place. Think Ritz Carlton upscale. Very pricey. I think we could do better than that, although it would be very convenient to me, only 2 hours away

It's Jim Wright.
He helped us with a meeting in JAX more than 10 years ago and I am in touch with him.
I agree about Amelia Island, parts of it are a little snobbish.
Does anybody knows if there is a possible location around St Augustine? On the inside?
About organizing: it is a matter of liability. If we are the organizers, we can be liable for all kinds of things and don't want the risk. That doesn't mean that we are not interested. I love to see the boats and meet the builders.

Sorry for the crickets....Got busy at work. The Hampton Inn is about the only show in Amelia Island with rooms anywhere near a dock, and they're listing rooms starting at $180/night in July! There is a nice marina right across the street, but they also charge $1+/ft/night to keep the boat in the water. No good trailer parking nearby either...
I say let's go back to Homassassa.

Remember that bay scallop season is open from June 27- Sept 24.
I'm thinking rooms are going to be slim pickings in July.

Riverside Resort is the place we were at last year. The location is just about perfect for our needs.
I checked with the resort and they are hosting a women's group the weekend of October 8th. The next weekend is wide open.
I went ahead and booked a room for October 20th-23rd, we got the same room that we stayed in last year
If this sounds good to you guys, I'll edit the thread title to reflect the date and location.

Guys, I'm late to the party. I've been so consumed with work over the last few months that spare time has been at a premium. Don't even know why I have a boat
Homosassa works for us. I personally think it was the best overall place we've been to as a group. Unfortunately, the weekend of the 15-16 is bad for us, as we'll be in the mountains. The next weekend works, but I hope no one would feel obligated to change on our account. If a change could be made, we'd book tomorrow.

Tom we go to Unicoi State Park in Helen. Been doing that for a few years now in October. Last year, we hit the leaves just right, but I think we'll be a bit early this year. We schedule the trip around a school holiday for the kids, when the teachers go on a conference and they get a 4 day weekend.

For the last few years we have been going to just out side Blue Ridge for the first two weeks of July and enjoy the 4th July festivities. Took a day trip last year to Helen, WOW what a crazy ass town that is, Bavarian Alps replica town.
This year we are going to stay a few miles from Bryson City, and do some mountain biking at the Tsali trail, horse back riding and lots of fishing. Can't wait, my son-in-law, daughter, grandkids , wife and I all got new mountain bikes.

DF you will go right past my road on the way to Tsalli bike trails. I met Jacques and his family there a few years ago and we talked boats. Many places have white water rafting I worked for Adventurous Faster Water, NOC(Nantahala Outdoor Center) is the biggest and probably the best. A couple of them have zip lines over some pretty valleys they sit on. Check out NOC website they have a very good restaurant on site plus a café on the river. There is also an excellent Italian restaurant downtown named Pausqualino's. I love there veal marsala and they also have pizza for the kids.
Glad to be of any help if I can be. arrowhead @ live. com

Am I the only one that finds this to be confusing? Your information is conflicting.
I talked to someone there the other night and they had no issue taking reservations. In fact, if you want to reserve there for scallop season, you had better call exactly 364 days-23 hours before your intended stay. They promptly emailed me a confirmation immediately after speaking with them. Last year, they had some trouble with the website, but that was quickly resolved.

They called me last night and said they couldn't put me in the computer until May. I told them i already have
a confirmation number . They told me dont worry about it you will have the room. I asked them why other
pepole are not having this problem and they said they must have talked to a manger and he has a different
code he uses to enter the reservation

I am not going to worry about it , if they dont have the room
when i get there i'll just turn around and go home and they lose 600.00$ . I have never had to work this hard to make a
a reservation in my life.

It's too early for me to make plans, but my intention is to be there as well. I've rented a house in the Crystal River, Ozello area previously, and may end up staying there. I started my FS18 on December 5th and I'm finishing up some details and getting ready to prime the decks tomorrow and apply a 3rd coat of Awlgrip to the hull. Sorry for not posting any pictures during my build, but I need to make my wife sit down and walk me through the process, being a non computer guy, and also every spare minute I have, I've been working on the boat. At some point I'll post the entire build. Looking forward to meeting all the builders and seeing all the boats, plus lots of fishing of course. Thanks to all that have answered my questions throughout the build. Damn it's been fun! Mike

It's sprinkling rain and it's the first cold (well, kinda cold it was 65 degrees) day of the year.
My redfish gets stuck on a rock and Mark dives in and unwraps it from the rock
I was hoping the event wasn't photographed

Another participant to put on the list (room reserved), is Jeff Morrow.
He is my new business partner. Jeff is in charge of the commercial side of the business and that allows me to concentrate on the design side.

Hi,
A free beer for the boat builder who comes from furthest away has attracted my immediate attention. I live in Austria and I would not mind meeting some of You friends who help me such a lot building my AD14. I looked at booking the Resort for 21 st to 24 th of October 2016 and it says fully booked since 28 hours. Is it possible that Jacques has booked the whole place for all of you ( and maybe me as well ) ?
Please let me know if I still could join you at the Maritime resort and then I would look for booking a flight from Europe to Florida.
Greetings from Karl ( Austria )

Karl,
I just spoke with the front desk and they are showing rooms available for those dates. The woman didn't know why the online service wasn't working. You mention the Maritime Resort, but the meeting is being held at the Riverside Resort in Homassassa
http://www.riversideresorts.com/
Perhaps that's the problem? Anyway, go to the above website and you should be able to get a room even if it costs you a phone call. The front desk is open 24 hrs every day.

Regarding free beer...I have 5 gallons (19 liters for anyone coming from a country with more sense on how to measure stuff) of home made stout that will be going into Boat Building Beer bottles next week. That makes 2 cases of beer. This recipe gets better with age, and I'm thinking late October it may be hitting its stride. Can't promise all of the two cases will survive till then, as after all I am building a boat right now, but I'll try and keep at least a case capped till then. Anyone from Alaska or Austria gets two before anyone else!
WARNING! Recipe calls for a final ABV of 9.5%

For sure you are going to need a rental car.
This is the route from Tampa to Homosassa.

Karl,
Enjoy your flight(s) and visit!
I once found myself on a toll road along the coast, from one missed turn. It can happen. The GPS in the rental might favor the toll routes. Don't know. Have USA cash ready for possible tolls, depending on your route. Even if you don't plan on using toll roads... again, I've found myself on one unintentionally, and it cost me about $25 before I got to where I wanted to go by that road, one way. The tolls here sometimes have only one lane for paying by cash (instead of a pre-purchased automatic system). Watch and prepare for that lane at each booth, if you use a toll road. In heavy traffic, it isn't always easy to get over to that lane at the last moment. It is usually clearly marked CASH at the booth, but not always so clear while approaching the booth area. Hope that helps someone.

Holy smokes, all the way from Austria? That's very cool. I'll be happy to buy a few of those beers
Haven't they changed out most of those stop and pay toll booths with license tag scanners? Last 2 times I went down there they sent a bill in the mail for the toll. Don't know how that works with rental cars though.

Yes, most of the manned toll booths are gone in Florida.
The rental car company will bill you for any tolls when you return the car.
Just get in the prepaid lane at the toll station and don't stop.
No worries, the tolls aren't very expensive.
Probably less than $25 for the round trip.

If coming from Orlando the turnpike, which is the preferred route shown in Richard's post, still has booths. The road from Tampa doesn't, but has the pay by tag cameras.
Or Karl can take the back roads and see a little bit of Florida on the way. He's not towing his boat!

Back in 2013 (i think), I took the Skyway Bridge and went up the west coast of Florida. That was where I got hammered with those tolls. I was not towing anything. Consequently, I've been fortunate in being able to avoid toll roads in Florida since then. Sounds like much has changed since then.

Hopefully for the better. Glad to hear it is much simpler now for rental cars. One less thing to think about on vacation.

Karl,
Check with the car rental company about toll roads, as most in Florida use a Sun pass transponder, toll by plate (takes a pic of the license plate on the car). Some won't even take cash. From the Tampa airport you will want to get on the Suncoast Parkway going north. The southern terminus is right by the airport. There other ways, but they will take twice as long.
Think you are going to win the free BBB (although I'm not charging anyone else either...).

I just looked it up. The Suncoast does not take cash. $4.75 to take it all the way north. Your looking at 1.5 hours from Tampa to the resort going that way.

Hi,
Thank you guys for the info on toll payment. It looks that my car rental firm will offer me something called plate pass when I pick up the vehicle which will let me go on any toll highway. But I might even try driving on back roads even if it takes twice as long.
I am not so sure if I will be the one coming from farthest away. What if glossiblack or Salvatore from down under fly in for the Meet ?
I think their distance from Australia is even longer than mine. How about it Michael or Salvatore ? Would be nice to see the 2 of you as well.

Good question, I'll try to get an answer for you.
The good news is since you are coming in from Texas, you really won't need to hit any toll roads.
I also have an extra Sunpass I could loan you while you are here.

Just checked. Most rental companies hit you with an additional $3-4/day to use it, and then have limits on what they pay. Best advice is talk to them. Richard is right. Coming from the west or north you won't need it. Karl leaving from Tampa though is right there at the beginning of the road. Depending on when you land there are tons of options though, so no biggie. May have to bring both my boats and let you long distance guys run one of them.

Hi Fuzz,
I would not worry too much, if you can steer a boat in Alaska you can do it on Floridas west coast any time and I can assist you as navigator which I learned from books because I have no practical boat experience. Could be fun.

Hey Fuzz and Karl I'm bringing Cracker Larry's No Excuse down. If you can ding it up your welcome to come fishing with me.

We just need to find someone from Florida who knows how to fish the area.

I have never been there.
See you in October. We will have plenty of fishing gear amongst the guys that are coming so don't worry about that.

Last time I rented a car was from Enterprise. It had a transponder somewhere (probably via the plate). They didn't charge anything more than tolls in terms of using it. We got an extra little ding on our credit card a week or 2 later to cover the tolls. That's been a few years ago, so there's no telling what they do now.
Craig is right-on. Take that suncoast parkway all the way from the airport north till it ends. You'll enjoy this road, as once it gets north of Tampa, there's virtually no traffic. It is one of my favorite roads to travel on.
Really looking forward to seeing everyone!

Don't forget that the Suncoast Parkway starts out as the Veterans Expressway at TPA airport
It's the same road (Florida 589) but the name changes after it crosses Van Dyke Rd.

Capt. Bhab is one hell of a good fishing Capt, but he really sucks at weather forecasting

One of the few people in this world I would, and have, trusted my life to on a little boat, way offshore, in the ocean at night, or will go to sleep with . There aren't 10 people I'd ever do that with, but about half of them are forum members I've met here and fished with on some tough trips. Aripeka Angler, Capeman, Wadestep, Majorgator and Dborecky all make that list. Good watermen all. I'd sleep well with them running the boat. Not completely sure about Dborecky though, he's a wild man behind the throttle and would throw you out of bed
I've set some definitions of what constitutes a good trip, after years of charter fishing with thousands of rookies and a lot of pros.
1. Everybody comes home
2, Nobody gets hurt (too bad)
3. Nobody gets mad
4. If the boat doesn't break, that's a real good thing
5. If you catch some fish, that's just a bonus, and we always do.
Now I only fish with people I know and trust completely. But my fishing days might be over with now
Men, I hate to do it but I'm going to have to cancel due to some serious health issues. The doctors tell me no way. They tell me I better never get on a boat again, and to cease and desist doing about everything else that I do, unless I want to be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life. It sucks, but it is what it is and I'm a big boy. Most of it is self inflicted by a lifetime of abusing my body. Can't blame anybody but myself. Life is like a poker game, you've got the play the cards you are dealt, not the ones you wish you had

Hi guys,
Majorgator and I were talking this morning about the rough weather we had last night.
We both wondered of the condition of the resort we will be staying at in Homosassa.
Well, it's not good. The place flooded last night due to storm surge from Hurricane Hermine.
For this weekend, it's closed.
They have no electricity and their phone system is down.
I have an email in to the management, waiting for a reply.
Let's not modify any plans until we hear from them.

Thanks Wade. We got our wills in order and updated last month. Needed doing. But I might make it anyway. and I don't think I'm going to die quite yet. But one never knows about that. If the Gods of health and weather co-operates, Doc Dyer is going to fly down here and pick me up in his airplane for the meet. Don't know how long we will stay either, or where, but going to try to get there.

Hi guys,
I have been calling the motel office at least once a week since the flood.
As of today, they are 99% sure they will re-open on October 10th.
They told me to call back on October 5th, just to be sure.
The guy I talked to said he was pretty positive that we will be good to go on the 21st.
The restaurants and bars at Riverside have already been repaired and have re-opened...

Thanks for the update. I am really looking forward to this. Vacation time all set up and non refundable tickets bought so I have no excuse at this point.
We will be flying into Dallas on Monday the 17th and then taking a slow drive to the meeting. Just want to do some sight seeing as neither of us have been through a lot of that area. Anyone have a must see on the way? I am planning on one way being along the coast and then the other to be more inland. We will have about 5 days after the meet to sight see also.

Fuzz, the scenic route along the coast of north Florida would be US 98. Lots of good places to stop for seafood around Apalachicola and other coastal towns. You will see some pretty cool views of Florida coastal waters. U.S. 98 eventually merges into U.S. 19, that will bring you south to Homosassa.
I would recommend the above route over I-10 and I-75. Unless you are in a big hurry I would avoid our boring Interstate highways...

Allow me to confirm that the route on I-10 between Mobile, AL and Jacksonville, FL is about the most miserably boring and lifeless stretch of road I've ever been on

What do you like to see while touring around? State Highway 20 is rural, but there are some awesome state parks along the way (Falling Waters, Torreya, Florida Caverns...).

We get into Dallas Monday afternoon and have until Friday to be at the meet. I think that gives us plenty of time to site see on the way. I have no desire to zoom down the interstate and see nothing so I am planning on taking the "back roads" as much as we can. I think it is no more than a 2 day trip to Florida so that gives lots of time to sight see. Any and all of the things you mentioned would be neat for snowbird sight seers. Not just in Florida but all along the way. Most of the trip will be new territory for both of us. Also any place to avoid is good info too

Fuzz, I would recommend taking US 90 from Lafayette, LA to Florida it first runs through the LA bayous then through New Orleans where I suggest you spend a part of a day seeing the French quarter, get a meal there and take in a jazz club. Then continue on 90 as it follows the coast all the way to FL, where you can pick up the road south to the meet.
You might also want to get to the meet late on Thursday afternoon as we normally go fishing on Friday. I'll pose that question to Richard in the next post.

Don't blame you there catch the I-10 on the west side and pick up US 90 again on the east side. I don't know if you like this kind of thing but Mobile, AL has the best botanical garden in the south. My brother is a landscape architect in Birmingham and took us down to it. See you when you get to the meet.

From their Facebook page:
After a very long 5 weeks we are back up and running! This was not an easy task, the amount of damage caused by Hurricane Hermine was so large many of us wondered if we could meet our deadline of opening by October 7th. This COULD NOT have been done without the help of some truly amazing people in our community!
Then they go on to give the list of people they're thanking...
So all is well for the meet. Looking forward to spending a few nights in my brand new room

I was reminded of the lesson, not to judge a book by its cover...I won't turn my nose up to Neon Leons again...it was fantastic!

There is a good ramp about 20 yards away from the Riverside Resort. You can buy bait, ice, etc right there.
They also have plenty of dock space. It's probably cheaper to pay the daily launch fee than keep a boat in the water.
It's several miles to the mouth of the Homosassa River from the Riverside Resort. There numerous islands, oyster bars and flats near the mouth of the river that hold reds and trout. It's a nice, relaxing ride from the hotel to mouth of the river and the Gulf.

If you have never been to Homosassa follow a boat out the channel to the Gulf. There has been many props tore up if you go outside the channel . Look across the river at the marina and you will see a palm tree made entirely of propellars Go out and go North (right 0f the channel) and fish the mangroves and rocky points. Cut lady fish is killer bait for reds as well as pinfish. see yall next week. Should be mostly done with the FS14L> will have it on a trailer.

Hi Jeff,
The plan is to grill and eat at Riverside.
Most everybody is staying at Riverside, so since they allow grilling and some of the units have kitchens we should be ok.
Capeman talked to a manager there and he said it's ok, just bring your own grill.
Our family will be in unit 101, we will be happy to set up a table on the back porch to serve up the food.

I'd recommend just picking up the chicken cooked from Publix on Saturday.
I'm pretty sure there is a Publix on the corner of U.S. 98 and U.S.19. There may be one in Homosassa, I can't remember...

Come on Richard. I'm not going anywhere

I've got a big box of stuff here with your name on it.
Dori says it would be sacrilege to cook that salmon. It's way too good for that. We've ate 5 or 6 pounds of it, all raw. She won't let me cook it

A little soy, wasabi, ginger, sesame oil.... that's some good fish!

It's on the trailer and ready to go. Hard to believe it's almost 9 years old. Needs a little tlc when I get time but it's running great. Load up some gear and we should be heading that way by early afternoon. See y'all there...

Sandi and I made it safely to Riverside.
First smiling face we saw was Topwater

His NV23 is absolutely beautiful

Stunning boat!
The three of us had some great shrimp and clam chowder for dinner at the freezer. Beer was cold and the company was great.
Our room is perfect, I'm guessing we may be some of the first to stay here since Hurricane Hermine came through.
The contractor that mitigated the flood damage did a great job...

Got the FS14LS painted. Dissapointed on the n9on skid pattern. Paint bleed through the tape on the radius patterns. Have to take wife to Dr. appt in the morning. When I get back I will start to clean all the edges where paint bled through. May get with Richard to help install rub rail. will see how things go. Boy paint really shows up all the booboos. hard to do things by yourself sometimes.Other than that it ready to bring. See you maybe Fri night. Mostly Sat. morning sometime.

Ken, you should bring the FS14 even if it's not finished. I'm not sure when you want to put on the rub rail, but I'll give you a hand.
The docks here at Riverside are really beat up from the Hurricane Hermine. Bring dock bumpers and plenty of dock line.
Also, be sure to pack a lawn chair. See you guys soon...

here's a few from me. Pattie was taking pics of me and Hermine mostly...
9.5 mph with Pattie and I.
She fit nicely up there....
First cast, first fish. 14inch...had to go back.
Two days of fishing and running out to the gulf twice. 1/2 gallon of fuel gone!
Karl took a TON of pictures, so I didn't. Saw Jacques snapping a bunch as well. Pattie and I were both selfishly focused on us.
The weather was superb, and Saturday night's feast was awesome! Thanks again to Fuzz for the fish!

Thanks for the pictures Richard. I didn't take many myself, though I got a few below. I regret not getting a picture of Mike's (Seaslug) boat. It was truly a gem. Hopefully someone got some pictures of it. Another greet meet and some excellent food...perhaps the best we've had...thanks David!!!!!! The weather was beautiful, but too windy to wander out onto the flats. It was a pleasure getting to meet so many new people, and I hope those who traveled great distances enjoyed the time as well.
Hermine was a beauty...
Richard's XF is always a sight to see...
John (topwater) all loaded up. This boat is very well done. It has a nice windlass
Richard's XF coming back in...
Harrison, Pauleena, Richard, and Doc. I think we were getting some advice
Sneaking through the creeks...

I want to thank everyone involved in putting on this meeting. I really enjoyed meeting everyone and seeing the other boats. All the boats were beautiful, but I have to give the grand prize to Topwater's 23. I love this style boat, a beautiful design by Jacques, and with Johns additions and fine workmanship, she is an absolute beauty. You just cannot buy a production boat this nice. A huge thank you to the folks that provided and prepared the wonderful food, and a big thank you to Fuzz for the Halibut and Salmon, especially being that he would probably rather eat an old shoe than another piece of Salmon or Halibut. Next meeting we'll have to cook up some Florida Redfish for our Alaskan and Austrian friends. Also, thanks guys for all the nice compliments, it's nice to be part of the group. I didn't see you guys in the morning, I don't sleep well and was up at 4:00, and since it was cold and windy, decided to head home and fish my local waters, but when I got to the ramp it was blowing like stink, so I went home and did a little work on the FS14. Sorry I don't have any good pictures either to add to the mix. Maybe next year. Mike

I'm thinking a designated everything! Too much for me to build a damn boat, brew beer, fix a carb on the way, fight Doc for fish scraps, watch the sun rise and set, AND drink.
Ken, was great to see you and as you said, "be seen". Meeting the new Bateau.com team was also nice. I agree on Mike's boat...drool...I was swallowing spit looking at her....
Top water by far had the most ambitious and impressive boat there. WOW!
As always, great to catch up with old friends and meet new people. AND this morning I shot a nice young 8 point white tail out back!
My life is good.

Being the new guy at Boat Builder Central/Bateau, this was my first trip to the builder's meet. My wife, Jami, and I had a great time!! It was great to see some of the amazing craftsmanship in person, because the pictures don't do the boats justice. Thank you to everyone who attended. I especially would like to thank Fuzz for the fish, MajorGator for the venison, and everyone who brought grills and cooked up a storm, the food was awesome!!!
Lastly, I would like to say that it is so refreshing to be a part of a business that has such great camaraderie, not only among the people that I work with on a daily basis but also the loyal customers and builders. It was a pleasure to see the friendships that I get to read about every day on this forum!
Thank you again and keep building!!!!

Hi,
Made it back to Austria in one piece and I must thank all of you in Homosassa for a beautiful boat builders meet. I enjoyed every minute of it and I was looking and talking boats all the time and this is why I managed to take hardly any pictures although I bought myself a new camera before the trip. You can see the pictures in my gallery but being as bad a camera man as a boatbuilder I forgot to make pictures of the boats that were there. At least I got 4 squirrels on a power line or tree rats as Craig called them.

But I will remember the lovely moments on Johns boat downriver and Richards trip upriver to see Manatees which we did ( a mother with the young one breathing ) and the biggest fish I have seen in real life a Tarpon I think Richard called it.
Thanks again to all of you for a wonderful 70th birthday experience with the strongest beer I think I ever had.
When I came back my sister surprised me with a birthday cake of the special sort because it contains a picture of the Adelie 14 I am building which I show you here:
I know it is not half as beautiful as the Appalachian mountains which doc Dyer posted but I like it because of my boat to be finished is on it.
Greetings from Karl

Thanks to CapeMan for the BBB, it was really good, and for taking Karl and I to breakfast.

Hi Fuzz,
I did not take enough pictures but I got one of the hatch which you were looking for. Unfortunately the picture is not half as good as the finish of the hatch. I am still drooling over the salmon you provided for the Saturday evening meal .
Greetings from Karl

I can't believe I missed this one!!!
I had a number of issues that kept me away.... This is the first I missed in years..... I'll have to make it up for next years.... I vote Keys next year at Venture Out or equivalent.... but no matter where it is, I'll make it a priority to be there....

Keys sound great in October, haven't been there in years. Won't have to winterize the boat so soon.

If I may give my input I would like Key west, last couple of miles on a drive like that doesn't make a difference IMHO, much more (fun) things to do opposite to the other islands

Here are a few of the pictures from the meet, We'd like to thank everyone in attendance for the great beer, food, company, and fun that was had at our recent meet. Stay tuned to this post for updates as we get more of the pictures uploaded
Imgur Album
Moving this here, as it should be all in one thread
The imgur gallery embed feature seems like it is broken today, as are all of the photobucket images I've seen today, so I'm guessing this is because of all the
Cyberattacks going on lately
update: fixed, use the "imgur2" button with the album code: http: //imgur.com/a/(album code)

That being said, the gallery should show back up soon, and I'll be adding to it this weekend.

Glad to know it is not just me. I posted some pictures for Glossie yesterday and today they are gone? Went looking and everything I have posted using Photobucket is gone. Hope they get the problem fixed.

It was probably cached at your forum, I think photobucket and imgur.com are both having issues.

Did anyone get a good pic of my boat running down the river? I'd like to see how she rides under the full force of that beast of a motor.

Hi,
The closest you were to the river was on the last picture I took when you launched the boat.
Unfortunately I did not have the camera with when you by yourself raced planing past us when we travelled on Johns Nor'easter. Maybe Fuzz took a picture he was also with. All the pictures I took you can see in my gallery under Any_other_pictures.

Capeman sorry to say I do not have one. When Karl and I went on the boat ride with John we both went brain dead and left our cameras at the hotel.

Yes, I took pictures with my phone but we were too far away and they are not worth posting.
That was with 2 persons onboard but still, the GPS showed close to 9 knots. Compensating for the current, I think the boat was going 7 knots (8+ mph) with 2 persons and a very small engine.

CAREFUL! That Yamaha behaves like a monster! And it is much lighter than the weight of two and a half horses
No worries about the pics. I just want to see how the spray and wake is. Almost nothing behind it when you are looking back.
