The wood clamps and wedges work well.
However today I tripped myself up by applying epoxy glue over the outer rather than inner face of the rubbing strake laminate I was installing.
After scrapping it off as best I could, I didn't want to risk gluing the wooden clamps to it.

Outer laminate of portside gunwale rubbing strake is on.
