The key fell out, meaning I didn't pay attention when putting it on. Was stuck to the magnet on the flywheel.

And I was just about to call you a genius!
Is it easily fixed or was actual damage done?
Genius on the puller despite the un-forced error with the key.
There are only two seasons in Vermont: boating season, and boat-building season.

That's awesome, glad it came together!
That little motor is what "messing about in boats" is all about in my book.

Re: Super Light SC16
Learn something every day was my father's mantra.
I am a fish head, not a motor head, so this was a learning experience as well as fun. The last time I stripped an engine down was a 5 hp Briggs and Stratton 50 years ago in 7th grade shop class, and that one didn't go well at all (those extra bolts and nuts that were left over - the ones we hid from the teacher - had something to do with the cam!).
I am disappointed in the paint job. I used auto engine primer and paint, and just handling the parts while reassembling led to multiple places where it flaked off down to the metal. Not sure I have the desire to try and do it over right now, but who knows...

"Shiney" metal and non-ferrous metals need "etching primer". I'm pretty sure you did everything right. I lost paint off the hood off my jeep as one entire sheet due to that one oversight.
Hope you don't mind, but I adjusted your post to embed the video link directly on BBC.

The one above? It plays for me. I hate computers.
