After I purchased the VG18 plans almost 2 years ago, I am finally about to start my project!
Beforehand I have two questions for Jacques:
The nesting-sheet show the centerboard being constructed out of 2 layer 1/2" plywood and 1 layer 3/8" plywood.
Centerboard and keel details are saying to construct the centerboard out of 3 layers 3/8" plywood.
Second question: which thickness is used for the keel side panels?
Could you please advise.
Regards
Arne

Re: VG 18 to start soon!
Drawing B269/11. It says 3 layers 3/8. That would cost an extra sheet of 3/8 but since we had plywood leftover on the 1/2" and 1/4" sheets, I decided that the builder could use that and grind it down 1/8". You must profile it anyway. If you can afford the extra sheet, use 3 layers of 3/8.Arne wrote: The nesting-sheet show the centerboard being constructed out of 2 layer 1/2" plywood and 1 layer 3/8" plywood.

3/8. They fit on the leftovers of the side panels.Second question: which thickness is used for the keel side panels?

Re: VG 18 to start soon!
I finally started
Drawings have been transferred onto 5 sheets so far, 3 have been cut already. I hope to get the rest done over the next 2 weeks, so that I can start bringing the Puzzle together!
I will try to upload pics soon.

Congratulations on starting the build. Sometimes getting started is the hardest part.
When you post pics, if you can, please post some pics of how the integrated keel is put together with the frames also being part of the keel.
Good luck on your build and have fun.

Re: VG 18 to start soon!
Project is making progress. All frames and panels are cut. Started to assemble the bottom and chine panels today.
It's starting to look like a boat.

Hello, Arne. I can't seem to get to the link you posted. Any pictures you can post? Keen on seeing the progress.
