Re: Marine Plywood Suppliers South Africa

Post by TomTom »

I’ve read such mixed reports on Birch; but the supplier seems to recommend it over their cheaper Malaysian BS1088.

I’ve also read Okume doesn’t have anymore rot resistance than birch - so I am assuming that it’s main appeal is it’s light weight?

The birch ply seems well made - but I wonder why it lacks popularity; could some of this be to do with the fact that to be BS 1088 it must be a tropical hardwood?

I think it's real stiff, might not bend well. I would ask somebody who uses it maybe Richard aka Aprieka Angler has used some
in his cabinets or other projects.
Novi 23 finally launched !
