FS19 BOM

I bought the original plans for the FS19. I am finally getting around to shopping for materials. In the building notes page 7, there is a listing for the bare hull BOM listing 6,10 and 12 mm plywood, but no quantities. Has this been updated? Also, I am assuming that 9mm is adequate for the 10 mm.

Bill Of Materials:
(Excerpts from our BOM)
The BOM list materials based on our standard layout and includes a 15% waste factor for resin and fiberglass. For plywood, we use standard sheets 4' x 8' (122 x 244 cm). Please read the building notes and see the plans for detailed specifications.
We recommend marine plywood, Meranti or Okoume for this boat. Okoume is lighter but more expensive. Marine fir or quality exterior with no voids is acceptable but may cost more if you want to avoid checking. To keep fir from checking, you will need to cover the entire surface with a layer of epoxy/fiberglass. This of course adds weight, cost, and time.

Our BOM's are based on material usage by a moderately experienced builder. First time builders will use more resin and waste more glass.

Yes 9 and 10 MM marine ply can be used interchangeably. Jacques is on vacation for a while so he may or may not be able to get back to you on the quantity for a while.

Just getting to the end of building a FS 19. If you have any questions about actual quantities of plywood, epoxy and fiberglass cloth and tape used for the boat that I’ve built, please let me know. The build thread is under Builder’s Power boats. My build differs from the standard build in that every exposed surface is covered in fiberglass cloth and I’ve reinforced the bottom some as well. The front casting deck has been shortened and the rear casting deck has been lengthened by the same amount.

Thanks, I read your entire thread. Very cool and very impressive. I am envisioning a near duplicate of my FS17 with more room, applying my lessons learned from not only the first build, but the last four years of use and your thread.

New build wish list:
Slide anchor locker back just enough to allow a well through the front rubrail to flush mount my trolling motor so that when stowed, it lies flat on the gunwale
Locking rod locker under the front casting deck
Replace my front baitwell (front end of center console) with a modular removable baitwell/ice chest/passenger seat combo
More real estate on the enter console top
Salt water washdown pump (like yours)
Raised sole (please let me know how self bailing yours is)
Main electrical bus bar access through panel on front of center console
Steering, throttle,shift cable and main switch panel access via hinged front console (similar to the old Pursuit)

Current cool FS17 options that I plan to carry over:
Roomy anchor locker with hatch pull opening that doubles as a vertical rod holder
All pop up/flush mount gunwale hardware
Amidship shrimp trawl cleats
Central air pump for baitwells
2 bank onboard charger
Ice chest saddle leaning post (all support members are recycled graphite golf club shafts) Entire leaning post, chest upholstery weighs less than 35#.
All epoxy/glass T-Top
Folding boarding ladder and assist pole
Cigar holders on console
Universal cup holder that securely holds any beverage container (Big Yeti clone, little Yeti clone, 12 oz cans, 12 oz bottles)

I see you live over near Ossabaw. We get over that way every couple of years or so. I have had my FS17 out there. Ill give you a shout if we do it again.

Nice list of options. I’m intrigued by the cigar holders. Cigars are a big passion of mine. The leaning post sounds really cool.
I think a T-top would look very good on the FS 19, but my brother didn’t want one.

A few weeks ago I got to visit Ossabaw Island for the first time. WHen I fish I tend to be a little further south around St. Catherine’s and Blackbeard Islands.

Looking forward to hearing from you if you get over this way.

Hello Rook! I see that you're right across the Bay from me. Where do you mostly fish? I got rid of my big boats and am building the D15 to run crab traps and zip around the causeway.

Mostly around Dauphin Island. I really need to learn to fish right here at home though. I've had some luck with reds and specks around the pilings but have not mastered thinking like a fish.
