Hi all,
my Hiawatha HC16 is finished, it took me a total net building time of 40 hours from printing out the plans to the first test drive.
It is build of 6mm industrial quality Meranti and completely covered inside and outside with 280g/sqm fabric, overlapping at the bottom. The result is an extremely solid boat, but it weighs almost 42kg. This is about the weight limit I can lift on the car top myself. So I guess using 4mm plywood instead of 6mm would have been sufficient.
In the bows are watertight compartments used for floatation and storage.
Some pictures are attached and I started a bilingual blog about boat building, which will be continued as time allows: http://www.stitchandglue.de.
There is also a short video about the building process on YouTube: https://youtu.be/5wfyquxGqb8.
Regards,
Nico

Looks great!
40 hours is impressive..... took me a whole summer to build our hc14 o.0
How is stability for the 16 by yourself? I haven't had any issues with our 14, but I'm a big guy and I mounted our seats low so it sits well in the water, I see with just you the front is out of the water and wondered if you felt stable with it.

Those 40 hours are spread over a couple of months. There are a lot of tasks especially when fairing and painting that require a day or two for curing after only 30 minutes of work.
The boat feels very stable. In the last picture it is loaded only with the few pieces of gear shown in the picture before and myself weighing about 120kg. The top chine is well immersed and it feels very safe. For a better weight distribution I installed the two benches asymmetrically: the centres of the seats are 120cm and 80cm away from the center of the boat. So I can sit a little more to the centre of the boat when driving alone and when driving with two people the boat will head to the other direction. The height of both seats is about 25cm above the bottom.
Even with two people on board the boat is able to carry lots of additional weight like fishing or camping gear.

Looks great. I have a similar design.
When I solo it, I like to sit on the thwart, so mine is laminated for strength, wider, and has a pad.

For this project I wrote down the time consumed by every step. A detailed timeline can be found here: http://www.stitchandglue.de/en/timeline-hiawatha-16/
