GF16

Post by fishgitr »

JM or anyone else who can answer this!

I have the plans to the GF16 for plywood.

What is the layup for foam core? Foam core thickness etc?

Thanks, Travis

I would be interested in the reply to your message as well. The GF16 is my next build. I have been thinking about doing it in Corecell or some other good foam material.

I don't think he's put it out there yet. I bought my GF16 plans this spring and it didn't have anything about foam construction.
I know he built his own in foam.

I'd be curious too.

No foam plans available yet. I need a little bit more time.
If you want to start buying materials, get a good foam core, I specify Divinycell H80 for the hull and Aquaplas for the transom. You MUST use HD foam for the transom. Get at least twice the amount of glass and resin specified for the plywood version. Get Silver Tip resin, not the regular plywood-epoxy resin.
The hull panel are cut the same way.

I will send a first draft of my shop manual to a limited number of builders if they have bought the plans and committed to buying the materials. The final version of the shop manual will be available before the end of the year.

PS: I will go on a short cruise (12 days) starting this week-end and will not have internet access.

Thank you for the reply JM! It might end up being out of wood then if we build it before then.

Any update on the foam manual?
I recall JM was working on it but was wondering if it was out and I missed it.
