Dear All,
I recently bought plans for CK17. Unlike the C12 I recently buılt there ıs a problem wıth the length of pıeces. Here ıs the ıssue
In Turkey the standart ply panels are 2200 mm long. This will mean that I need three pieces for the hull panels. Reading other
forums and espescially those on Core Sound 17. I realized that that boat actually uses three element hull pieces connected
ın one of the standart ways.
My question is:
Where should I form the joints to have minimal impact on the design. Espescially not to clutter the interior
too much.
Best.

Re: CK17 hull pieces
In some designs, the butt block location is critical but not in the case of the CK17.
I wrote about that in the notes: as designed, the butt blocks will not interfere with the frames but may get in the way of the seat tops, in that case, make a notch.
Cut and assemble the hull panels anyway you like and if they interfere with a frame, shave 6 mm off the frame.

Thanks for the reply. I then assume it will be ok to attach a structural
element to a butt block?

Hi Tonguç
when you glue the plywood sheets for the hull panels, note the position of the butt blocks.
If you glue whole sheets of plywood on one side, there is a risk that the butt blocks will be on the one side of the boat from the inside and the outside on the other.
It depends on drawing the sides on the plywood. To fit two sides on three sheets, you can not glue sheets of plywood on one side.
First, I made a paper model.

Yep! That would be a bummer.
