AD16? hardware & rigging for mod chinese rig per plans

Post by Bogieman »

I'm thinking this is a question for Jacques/ BBC crew but all are welcome to chime in.

I'm about to start acquiring the hardware / rigging for my AD16 and will be going with the modified chinese lug sail & rigging that are shown in the plans. I have a few questions...

1. The sail plans for the lug and marconi specify the same hardware and rigging. Am I reading this correctly?

2. Are the following the correct parts I will need?
-masthead
-tangs/ how many?
-boom (I already have the mest)
-outhall cap /how many?
-gooseneck

3. -Can the lug rig be free standing (no shrouds / stays)?
4. -Is the yard built into the sail or do I have to purchase something like a smaller boom?
5. -A fiddle block and cam cleat (attached to the CB case instead of a rear traveler) is mentioned on the
plans page but not listed in the actual sail plan.Do I need any other hardware that's not listed?

Ok I think that does it for now. Thanks in advance,

Bogie

JM, boogie isn’t planning to run jib. Makes me think the stays become unnecessary. I’m thinking a three block mast head (main, topping, spare). I was thinking clutches vs jamb cleats for mast lines and CB.

Also thinking the “gaff” needs to be 1” OD. Is 3/16 wall ok?

How far off am I?

You are way ahead of me on the learning game, I am still trying to figure out what your question was!?

 building the sail boat is only half of it. Learning how to do the rigging is the other.

Sometime the production boats rigs are not right!!! You have to know a thing or two about rigging.... You are so far ahead of a lot of "sailboat off the shelf" buyers ...

OQ the sail color red or white.

:D CaptUB is that your boat? The rig looks similar to what I'm after.

I wish I had one like that, but no it's not. I was just showing to old style sail color.
