Alafia Angler's LM18

Post by cape man »

Starting a thread for my son. We just got home with a really nice LM18 hull. He and his friend will be finishing this. Thanks John!

My son was just talking about what modifications he wanted to make to his Paw Patrol toy boat so makes sense. Looking forward to seeing another shallow water boat built.

She's in position. Couple of projects in front of starting. The bottom and sides need some sanding and fairing, and there's a wicked hook where its flat. I believe it can be fixed with the stringers and bulk heads, as there's no glass inside yet.

Going to try and get them to build it without a bilge, minimal hatches, and lots of deck. Tiller 25hp Yamaha, grab rail, hydraulic jack, small battery, and running lights. Maybe a USB power port and bait well. Foam under sole.

Same cockpit drainage as Richard's Bare Bones?
Currently building Jacques Mertens ST21 "Skinnydip". Boating adventures: Splash testing and using 'Skinnydip, as a basis of further building refinement; Adams 44’ sailing sloop "Great Sandy" (cruising and maintaining); Iain Oughtred Feather Pram "Mini Dip" (building); Jacques Mertens R13 "Wood Duck" (built and due for maintenance).

I’m very happy you remembered the process. It’s the absolutely the most awesome way to build a flats boat.
No water below the deck, 100% self draining and no water in the bilge...
Richard
Completed boats...XF20 "Red Alert", Aripeka Angler's Strip Canoe, FS18 “Bare Bones”, GF12
Currently building...PY12 Kayak

In Tunisian Arabic its Bishwaya, Bishwaya. Slowly, slowly. A few days ago we put some bricks in her to see if I could deflect the hook in the bottom. After a few days she's looking good. Still have the canoe and repaint of the Dory in front of this, but feeling better about the stringers and bulkheads taking care of the hook.

I have not put a tape to her, but John said he added width...she looks wider than the plans for sure!
