Started. Sanding the bottom I LOVE sanding. John did an awesome job building a solid hull but his painting skills are on par with mine...
Got half the bottom sanded this afternoon. Sanding graphite mixed with epoxy is HARD. Ordered a multi tool today to cut the skeg off. Going to sand the exterior and flip it over to install the stringers and bulkheads and get the hook out of the hull then put a new skeg on.

Could you put a wee bit of rocker in the stringers?

Seems like you should be supervising and your son doing the sanding

Re: Alafia Angler's LM18
The stringers go right where the hook is and since they are straight should "push" the hook out. I'm a little concerned with having that much of a "hard" spot along them but will add 12 ounce cloth tape the entire length and maybe double it up in that area. Between the stringers and bulkheads it should do the trick. Cutting off the existing skeg which also is hooked should make getting the hook out easier as well.Could you put a wee bit of rocker in the stringers?
The dimensions of this boat are way off the plans as he made it 4 inches wider on the bottom. The stringers he made look like they will work, but there's some complicated "custom measured and cut" bulkheads in our future as the ones he gave me don't come close to fitting at the proper spacings.
Currently my plan is to raise the sole at least an inch by installing slotted cleats on top of the stringers and bulkheads. Looking at Richard's Bare Bones FS18 as a model for a bilgeless, self draining boat. Small cockpit with lots of deck space. Conflicted on tiller or remote steering, but have a long ways until I have to make that decision.
