Neat drain tube. How did you treat the inside of the tube? Reach up in there with a brush and epoxy?

Re: Double Ender Grand Canyon Dory
I waxed the tube with mold release and layed down 12 oz biax first which was fully saturated with epoxy. No need to add epoxy to the interior afterwards. The interior walls are completely smooth. As VT Jeff mentioned, should adhere much better than a pvc pipe for a through hull bond. More photos soon.

OK thanks. I thought you left the cardboard tube in there. You waxed and then pulled it out it sounds like.

Moving along with dory work. Finalized the 12 oz deck tape and started fairing the interior. Laminated the gunwales a few weeks back and getting ready to install gutters and six hatches. Lots of detail work in preparation for paint in the Spring.

That might not be the record for clamp number but it has to be in the top two
Boat is looking good.

That may be true Fuzz. My wife came out and started laughing at me when she saw the number of clamps (72 on one gunwale glue-up). Can never have enough clamps! I hope you are doing well in the darkness up there. Stay safe Fuzz.
Fallguy,
Yes, a lot of builders are using plastic bottoms and some for the entire boat with this design. I have a fondness for wood but plan on trying it out on a smaller boat some time. I used to use a lot of carbon and Kevlar laminations with aluminum and foam core but have stuck with wood and glass for boats. Love your build! Keep up the fine work. It will be a pleasure to see that boat in the water.

Less than 6 hours of daylight this time of the year gets old but we will turn the corner soon and things will improve
I have used plascore for decks and cabin parts and like it. It is my understanding it is not so good for stringers, bulkheads and hulls. It might work just fine for drift boats but I am not sure I would want it in a planing hulls bottom.

Been working on gutters, oars pocket (for spare oars), gunwales, and a lot of detail sanding. Crawling inside of those hatches and sanding has been an interesting challenge. Still need to final fair the interior, paint everything and install hatches. A long way to go! She has been named "Pacific". I am looking forward to a float/camping trip in the Spring.
