Well I sort of finished this GV11 build last fall but intended on doing a lot more fairing once the weather warmed up. Then the weather warmed up and I decided to say screw it and just call it complete so I could start fishing.
Haven’t measured the speed but it feels like a jet ski with a Tohatsu 9.8. Also moves well with a 40lb electric on small lakes.
And yeah, I know the color is ugly but why build a boat if you can’t paint it a weird color?

Very nice! Good looking fish also. I see you are trolling with a down rigger. Never seen one on a skiff before but it looks good.

Very smart!
I disagree. At least from the photos, it's got a nice nautical look to it. The skiffs that they rent at my marina are the same color and my wife's SUP company sells a SUP in just about the same color, they are quite popular.
Also love the downrigger, btw!
There are only two seasons in Vermont: boating season, and boat-building season.

Thanks guys, the downrigger is definitely only a fair weather item at the moment because reaching out over the side is a little sketchy. I'll probably move it forward a bit. I've got a lighter ball and relatively light braided line on it, so if I make a really big mistake and it gets hung up it should break off before pulling me under. As a practical matter, I am only going to be using it mid-water-column in places I'm really familiar with. I'm in Seattle, which is a very downrigger-centric part of the world--no boat is complete up here without downriggers. Even some people fishing salmon with canoes and kayaks use downriggers in these parts.

That is a manual Scotty and it is okay, but I recommend keeping a wire cutters and piece of leather close. That or any rigger is a liability in a small boat and always be ready to snip it off. I have the same one.
Is that a king? Nice fish. I am jealous.

I run braid on it and keep a sharp knife in the same place, so it’s quicker to cut than wire if need be. But agreed, gotta be careful with it.fallguy1000 wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 11:58 pm That is a manual Scotty and it is okay, but I recommend keeping a wire cutters and piece of leather close. The fish is actually a big cutthroat. Unfortunately the salmon seasons are now what they used to be, so cuttys in the lakes are the next best thing in the winter.

Nicely done. Very nice cutthroat, will be good eating. Agree with you move the down rigger a little forward for balancing out the GV. Definitely needed in your part of the world.
