Wow nice plans and economical.
That is very similar to what I was thinking except I am going to use steel I-beam with a trolley system. This will give me easier flexibility when setting the engines back in.

Have you guys seen my gantraption?
I used it to pick and lift the Skoota hulls. Two steel i beams and two trolleys to pick up a 33' long hull and move it about z8-10' sideways.
It creaks. I picked up 1600# with it, but I was scared.

I think in the lifting and handling world they apply like a 4x or 6x safety factor. the good thing is its easy to find specs for ibeam capacity.
