Gv11 with 20 hp

Post by Tbreaux_57 »

What modifications would I need to do, if any to run a 20 horse on the gv11? I'm thinking I will glass the hull inside and out, pour foam in the floor and glass over the sole. As well as extra wood and glass on the transom.

You also might consider a Foley catheter and collection bag so you don't wet your pants when you open up the throttle! :help:
There's a picture of one built like a run about with a 40 Honda on it.... :help: :help:

It's really not recommended unless you build it with a console. Having the weight more centered helps keep it stable in a turn.

Layer of biaxial on hull bottom, both sides.

I ran a GV10 with a 15 HP and that was a handful when just one person.

With that in mind, I could use water ballast in the bow to balance it out when riding solo and a 15 horse tiller. I'll also have a trolling motor and it's battery in the bow

Or you could just not run it at 30mph. Easy on the throttle.

Where's the fun in that!? I think the 15 I'm also thinking trim tabs on the stern and skegs on the bottom. I've also seen a few people here add a foot to the overall length for better power handling. That Might be worth the cost of an extra sheet.
