GP21 Hull Stretch Question

Post by serge »

Evening,

Is it feasible or recommended to stretch the GP21 by adding a second identical frame D 36" aft of D?
Then stretch the bottom and side panels by 36" in the area aft of frame location D?

This is the widest and deepest station in the boat and the widest section of the bottom and side panels.

May need to go from a 3/8" to 1/2" bottom panel but that shouldn't be too difficult.

I'd like to keep the beam at 8' if at all possible.

Thanks,
Serge

Wouldn't you rather build the abaco?

That Aboco is very nice.

I've bought those plans also.

Reminds me of an Albury.

Don't like the built in chines or the draft.

But it has always been on the short list.

I just don't have any questions on it.

It's a more complicated build that the Panga or GP21.

I want to minimize the build time commitment as much as is reasonably possible.

I got rid of my shiny and complicated boats.

I want a beat around easy to build and simple to wash and not use for 3 months and not feel guilty boat.

Not sure if one exists.

Serge it is always recommended that when you stretch a boat that you do so in all the directions in the same amount. This keeps the boat balanced. You can keep the 3/8" bottom panel.
