Al 5456/H111 Angle

Post by bklake »

I found some drops of this at the local Metal Supermarket. Picked it up to make an engine bracket for my 25hp Suzuki.

Anybody familiar with this grade of aluminum? I can't find much beyond it is marine grade and a little stronger than 6061.

I saw some picture in a post by CrackedRib. He hit a submerged log with his engine. His bracket looks fine but engine was all busted up. His bracket is a pretty standard design as found on the internet. Just want to make sure the metal is good enough before I proceed.
