Heavily cleated! Nice touch!

How are the decks looking these days? Full glass on top? Any print through?

Looking at a boat with a few years of service under it's belt is like a glimpse into the future.

True. But there's enormous satisfaction in seeing a boat form before my eyes. You could wet out on plastic small strips of glass, let gel, put some putty in the joint and then spread the glass strips over the prewet wood upside down. That wouldn't drip much I think?

I guess the world is divided into “Cleaters” and “Upside-down-Filleters” ....

And in the end, this is how we will be divided.

I think the longer and bigger the boat the more you need cleats do to the forces of the waves on the hull. While fillets can work it depends on the skill of the builder to make sure they are properly built up and attached and usiing 12oz biax for them is neccessary. Working upside down is not easy.

Here is an example of the use of both. Other than the way the motor was raised does anyone see anything else wrong with this picture?

Edit: and please don't start another two pages of how to figure the transom or the shaft length. I think Fallguy references it as the secondary bond.
