Tallahassee Cardboard Boat Race & Boat Show

Post by BB Sig »

I have started a ministry with the purpose of assisting chronically homeless veterans. We needed a signature event that would stand out in an event-filled town. Our board agreed to a cardboard boat race and I approached Jeff and Reid to be a sponsor. They agreed! 8O We decided to make it worth their time and energy to drive that far, we would allow homebuilt boats to be displayed.

The event is on April 30, 2022, at Maclay Gardens State Park.

This is to test to see if there is enough interest in hosting a separate boat show next year or leaving it as an add-on to the cardboard boat race. I am asking nothing but for you to bring your boat to display and register on the website.

Tallahassee Cardboard Boat Race If it looks rough, it's because I'm not Jaysen!

If you are coming the night before and want a safe place to park your boat, I have plenty of room at my house. There is also a 30 amp RV outlet in the backyard if needed.

I added a note that registration is $40. Include your Forum Name and "BBCdiscount" and I won't send you a payment link.

That is cool. If I was 3000 miles closer I would be there for sure.

I'll see what I can do. What are the rules for the cardboard boats?

That’s awesome! I did cardboard boat races when i was a kid back in Rock Island, Illinois when they still had them. It was so much fun! I don’t know if I’ll make it to Jacksonville for this but best of luck!

Oh Man! That is just about 2 weeks too late for us, we'll have pulled out of FL by then and will be either just be getting home or will be working our way up the Chesapeake, bummer! I was thinking that a cardboard SUP would be a cool entry.

Best of luck with the event!

Take your new boat, once you have the bigger prop on there!
