PC24 Question
PC24 Question
This email question arrived overnight: "Hi. I'm interested in the plans for the Pontoon Cat Boat PC24. Would it be possible to build a boat house on this platform?" Jeff
Re: PC24 Question
Watch the weight.
You could build a very light enclosure, framed wood or Al with 4mm ply and canvas, roll up windows, not more.
Look at the PPI: 275 lbs. That means, for each 275 lbs, the waterline will go up 1". A light enclosure will be several hundred lbs and that is OK but a real house boat top with all that's included will be at least 1,000 lbs and to raise the DWL 4" is as far as I would go.
There is another way to solve that. Increase all dimensions by 10%. That gives you a volume increase by 1.1^3 = about 33%. I would do it that way.
The structure is strong enough to take an heavy top but the weight is your limiting factor.
