If it wasn’t for the long shallow sloping beach, a cat would be pretty awesome. However, you need to float in as little as 8 inches of water. It’s a very unique fishery with a niche boat style.
I did see a OD18 on a trailer locally just a couple days ago. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to catch up with the guy towing it to ask him about it.

Couldn’t agree more
. This one takes “form follows function” to a whole new level!
Wouldn’t look quite so fugly if the wheels folded into a nice looking housing - but they really do look out of place just poking into the sky on a boat!

When I look at them I see driving down a beach or surf ramp into the water, rather than an involved process occasionally ending up with a trailer in sand up to the axles, or a wave depositing the boat on the car roof.
I had a 3.5m dinghy. Putting wheels on it meant I could take it places solo where beforehand I couldn't.
It's a niche user base for sure. Also a lot more expensive and things to maintain.

This one is so much better looking for sure. Can see the utilitarian aspect of them for sure.
