BBC fiberglass hatch lm18

I decided to scrap my hatches and go with the custom fiberglass hatches on BBC
Im going with the 22”x22” on the front deck, 22”x16” on the rear. I close up the deck and glassed. Then used the router to remove about 1/8” where the flange rests. I’ll epoxy it in place then glass the seams.
Has anyone used these any suggestions?

Yeah, I’ll probably do it with pvc like some other builders have done

Those hatches will really kick your build up a notch.
More work I know, but the gains in having a flush deck and drier storage with better cosmetics is real.
You won’t be sorry. It will be worth it.

I'd venture it is quite a bit less work than making guttered hatches yourself. I had more time in making the hatch and surround for the skiff than rebuilding the casting deck and floor together.
A straight-edge could help as a guide for the router in cleaning up those relief cuts.

Epoxied the hatch in place. I temporarily screwed it down with drywall screws, which spread the epoxy out really good and contact all around.
