Fast Skiff 12 Runabout???

Post by Runabout »

I read this article:
https://smallboatsmonthly.com/article-tags/runabout/

Near the bottom it shows an old aluminum 12ft skiff that the owner Patrick Macqueen top decked and added remote steering to.

Is this design do able From the fast skiff 12 cnc kit? It looks very similar to the aluminum skiff.

Lower the seating, add back rests, dash, and front top deck with veneer planking.

Any thoughts?

Yes that’s it.
Looks like an aluminum version of the fast skiff 12 with remote steering.

Do able from the kit?

I would say sure thing, layout is up to the builder as long as the primary structure is still in place.

Just need to be mindful of adding too much weight (a simple deck would not) or moving the Cg too far. The image above has the driver sitting well forward, which is good for planning easily but may be wet and a harsher ride than a foot or two back.

FS12 is a small boat, I'd draw that out to scale with your self in it and see how it looks. Or tape on the garage floor. The open utility layout is more roomy and versatile.
