XF 20 builds .... how many splashed ....how many in progress

My XF20 is 99% complete. I'm working on restoring a 110hp Evinrude that will make this skiff fly. I decked her over, installed a sole and added frames and other major re-inforcements so she should handle the power without a twist.

I been wondering where all the XF20 builders have been. They been pretty quiet around here.

It would be good to see some progress reports and usage reports from the builders who have launched.

good to see another miami builder almost finished with their boat. i'm about 90% finished with my gf14 . she just needs paint on the inside and the polling platform and other hardware to be fitted. hope to see you on the water some day.

Hunch , Got mine wet March 23 rd . Haven't finished her yet tho . When you gonna get ur website up and running ? Enjoyed the earlier jpg's and would like to see ur progress to date !

Not sure the designer intended her to have a 110 hp motor and a tower, but have fun, good luck and send pictures.

No tower planned and about the only thing that is "as designed" is the shape of the hull. Scantlings, framing and additional stringers were beefed up considerably. I worked closely with Stickystuff on the final layouts.

Added about 450 pounds to the original design plus the extra weight of motor and Detwiller jackplate. She should float in 3-4 inches.

Up in Jersey where I grew up there are smaller Garvey's with 250hp V8's running around in Barnaget Bay. Zoooooom !

I had some disagreement with Hunch about his modifications but after all, it's his boat, he does what he wants.
Sure that to take a 110 HP the hull needed some reinforcement . . . It's going to be a scary boat but I'm glad to see that launching is close.

A good XF20 is the one by SteveinSpringHill: it runs in 1-1/2" of water. His modifications was to use 1708 instead of 12 oz. bias on the bottom. Now that I see hwo some fo you use that boat, we may make it the standard lamination schedule.

Hey Hunch, nice to see you'r almost finished. I'm another Miami builder working on a GV11. Finished buiding, now to fair and paint. Maybe we should have a get together for the Miami builders.

Radical modifications were made for sure. I wanted the deck space of the XF20 to fish 4 big guys in comfort on a decked over boat and the ability to sleep two under a canvas dodger up front when the weathers right. The fore deck is 8.5 foot x 8 foot.

Draft was not a real priority. Cheapness and ease of buiding was number one, deck space second and draft 3rd. My best guess is she will float in 4 or less which is just about right for the Flamingo or Biscayne Bay areas.

That 110 hp wasn't my 1st choice but it showed up and was what I could afford. I doubt if I will ever really open the beast up unless I really need to or when I have the occasional whim to scare the crap outa myself.

I will get pics as soon as I get her out from under the back porch.
