9.9 long shaft on 15' boat

Hello to all. My question is...I have a 26' sailboat with a 9.9 longshaft, hung from the transom. I'm thinking of building a boat (maybe a D15 or OB15) Could I enterchange this motor between boats? In the future, I could consider a new shortshaft with a motormount on the sailboat that would lower it. The 9.9 (max I can use on the sailboat) might be too small on the boats I'm looking at. In short, my goal is, two boats, one motor. Is this attainable?

Aparently the D15 will plane with the 9.9 motor, not sure it would be much fun transferring from one to the other but doable I wonder if the 9.9 is a high thrust moter, would you need to change props too to get the boat up on plane?

Look at the GV 11, a 9.9 is plenty of power.

Thank you for the replies. Daddy, I hadn't thought of the prop change as I bet it is a high thrust. The G 11 is a nice boat Chase. I have some more thinking to do now. Maybe build what I want, and up grade the motor later.
