help finding an article

Post by Bluto4566 »

About a year or so ago I found a link on the old forum to an article an insurance adjuster had describing damage he had seen to new "high tech composite" boats. He had several pictures that showed what junk these new boat are. I have run about 100 searches on the old forum but can´t find the link. Can anyone help me? I´m trying to keep my brother from making a terrible mistake.

Thanks
Bluto4566

High tech composites are not junk but like with any material, there are incompetent builders.
The article you refer to was written by a surveyor who has a strong prejudice against sandwich construction and I do not recommend it. The rumor is that he lost a liability suit for failing to detect a defective core problem . . . Since that time he claims that all foam cored construction is junk, a stupid statement.
Instead, read this article written by real experts in the field. It contains the same warnings but is more objective and more exact:

in Professional BoatBuilding, March 98.

[ This message was edited by: jacquesmm on 20-01-2003 17:03 ]
