How harsh is Kiwigrip? For sitting or kneeling on, or for dog pads or elbows?

It's very friendly, not harsh at all. Great for bare feet and dogs. You have some control over the texture by how thick you apply it and how aggressively you roll it.

I applied it with a cigar style roller cover to the top of the paddle board, and its very comfortable. Its easy to adjust the texture by using more/less product and different roller covers

Do you have anything at the shop that is coated with it I could check out? Or some sample cards? I may be able to swing up there Friday afternoon.

I think I'd still want to splatter over the non-kiwi areas to break up the texture, particularly in the taped corners. Maybe a white base with grey splatters, and grey kiwigrip on the standing areas. I'm tempted to repaint the entire interior.

The weather has been terrible lately, took me a month to get a handful of dry days to get it done.

I like the kiwigrip a lot, used the smallest notches on the west marine spreader and got a good texture for the dogs.

Looks better in the pic than in person, I didn't spend a lot of time fairing, but more than good enough for this boat. Now I need to find some time to paint and kiwi the rest of the deck.

So I sized the relief in the gutter for a Taco weather seal hatch tape, 1/4" x 3/8". It was ~$20 at West Marine, shipped.

Problem is, it isn't 1/4" tall. It came out of the package with a bunch of kinks from being rolled up. Installed, it is between .180" and .220" tall. I cut the relief to ~.125", and it isn't getting as much squish as I'd like.

It'll have to do for now, but if/when it fails I'll be using the 3/8" http://tacomarine.com/item--3-8-x-5-8-W ... -0109.html

Hinges are bolted in place (machine screws & stop nuts on hull side; tee nuts on deck side), latch is installed, and tape is in. All I need now is some sort of guard over the anchor divider and I'm done.

Has worked out great so far. It does let a little water in. Tons more storage than I used to have, and easier access. Fits a grill, the paddle, plus sandbar toys, anchor, and safety gear.

Still knocking off odd jobs here and there.

Latest is kiwi-gripping the rest of the sole, and installing a Moeller 22gal above-deck tank. I hate those 6gal Tempo tanks that it replaced. No more plastic fittings that leak, and having to switch tanks during the day. Plus twice the capacity.





Really happy with the deck. Only screwed up one area, just a few square inches were exposed to the sun and the Kiwi kicked off fast, so it bridged a bit when I pulled the tape. Think it should be an easy repair.
